AIMS
European
dredging companies are amongst the leading companies in global
dredging. They are involved in numerous important infrastructure projects
within the countries of the European Union and world-wide. The European
dredging industry is competent and capital-intensive, environmentally
conscious and export oriented.
RECIPROCITY
EuDA promotes the concept of reciprocity in market access
conditions; its members should have free access to markets for dredging
services around the world.
FAIR COMPETITION
EuDA supports fair and equitable implementation of the European
rules and pleads for competitive, but fair, market conditions.
TENS, TRANS-EUROPEAN WATERWAYS NETWORK
EuDA promotes inclusion of sea transport routes and inland
waterways into the network. This will bring the need for improvements
in the infrastructure of ports and navigable waterways.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
EuDA underlines the acute shortage in European seafarers.
It points out the need to train more seafarers in developing dredging.
Recrutement of European seafarer could be focused on future Member-State
countries with maritime traditions.
CLEAN ENVIRONMENT
The dredging sector has developed methods to clean-up polluted
waterbottoms in waterways and ports, to use dredged material beneficially,
to place contaminated soil and sediment isolated from the environment.
WETLANDS
EuDA is highly interested by a variety of Regulations
that affect the protection, development, restoration or use of coastal
habitats or Wetlands.
SOCIAL
EuDA is in favour of the harmonisation of working conditions
on board of ships and of the establishment of minimum standards.
EuDA favours the process of setting common quality standards
to be respected by dredging contractors.
INNOVATION
EuDA proposes common research proposals for the dredging
sector within the EU-R&D Framework Programme. This promotes
international cooperation and dissemination of expert knowledge
on a specific and little known technology.
Innovation enhances the competitiveness of the European dredging
industry in the world.
